Our Story

In our early days, The Chapel was nothing more than a few friends who completely committed themselves to God. We were driven by a core conviction that God stood ready to change the lives of people who opened their hearts to him. We saw God win the hearts and minds of people who were far from him and repair broken homes and marriages. In fact, in every kind of hopeless situation, we saw God win.
Our confidence that God could change the world was unshakable. A group that numbered in the teens and initially met in an apartment complex clubhouse grew steadily into the hundreds and finally exploded into thousands of weekend attenders. The backdrop of The Chapel has changed a lot — a warehouse unit and high school in Grayslake, a new building, and then a radical move to multiple locations — but The Chapel’s heart hasn’t skipped a beat.
We believe 2 Chronicles 16:9a says it best: “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strongly support those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” That is the story of our past and the foundation of our future. We have seen what God can do and we expect to see him do far more. We believe God is ready to change the world, and we want to be people committed to God so that he will use us to help people rediscover him.
