In response to the devastation caused by the earthquake in Haiti, The Chapel is providing a special fund to which our people can donate. We will use these funds to help support the work of ministries on the ground in Haiti including Bright Hope International and Living Water International. Here is a letter that we sent to our church family:
Dear friends,
This week has been filled with images of the devastation caused by the earthquake in Haiti. Current estimates project around 100,000 deaths and more than 3 million people affected by this crisis. This weekend at The Chapel we will provide an opportunity for you to respond to this crisis.
We have set up a special fund to help the people of Haiti. We encourage you to give over and above your tithe to this special fund. You can give in one of two ways. First, you can simply write a check, put “Haiti” in the memo line, and drop it in the offering this weekend. You can also give online to this special cause. Simply log in to chapel.org/giving and choose “Haiti Relief Fund” from the drop-down menu. If you have never logged into online giving, you can use the same username and password from online registration or simply create a new login.
To bring the most effective and efficient help to Haiti, we are partnering with two financially responsible organizations, Bright Hope International and Living Water International. Partnering with these organizations allows us to bring water, medical supplies, and food to the most ravaged parts of Haiti. Both of these organizations are a part of the same financial accountability organization as The Chapel, the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability (ECFA). The ECFA provides the highest level of financial accountability for non-profit organizations.
We invite you to join us as we pray for those in Haiti. We pray for God’s peace and his provision in this time of great need. Thank you for your continued support and your great compassion for those who are hurting in our world.
