SubscribeKate has a canine!
Posted August 30, 2010
A story in the March edition of The Chapel’s magazine, sixteen:nine, told the story of Kate Slobodian, who has life threatening food allergies. Her parents organized a campaign to raise money to purchase an allergy alert service dog that would warn Kate and her brother, Nick (who also has food allergies) of potential threats and allow them to lead a more active and normal life.
We are pleased to share that the Slobodians’ new dog, Clifford, has joined their family and has already made a difference in their lives. After a meeting at Kate’s preschool, Clifford searched the room. In addition to the things that were planted for him, he found a stack of egg cartons in a cupboard and a bin of birdseed. Kate’s mom, Ann, shared that “it was such a great feeling to walk away knowing that there are no surprises lurking for Kate in that room.”
Kate began preschool last week, and her parents can now rest easy knowing that she has an advocate and protector with her wherever she goes. Thank you for your prayers, interest, and donations that helped make this possible!
